Looking For A Great Book For Kids?

Looking for a great book to read with the kids this summer? It's Okay To Be Different by Todd Parr, is a delightful book that I use every year in the classroom to talk about diversity. As a parent, you could use the book to talk about all kinds of differences; differences in siblings, in abilities, in cultural or ethnic groups. The list is endless really.

It is also a great way to focus on your child's strengths. What are their gifts and talents and how can they use them at home, at school and in the community? After we read the book in the classroom, we always make a class book and each child draws a picture to illustrate a way that it is okay to be different. Some of the things they come up with are touching and some are hysterical. I've included a few samples for you to enjoy!
